[LIN 101] Human Spell Gone Awry

LIN 101

Kressara walks into the library with Adorra distracting her. Due to her interference, Kressara almost runs into her assignment parter, Kit X. He slightly growls at her, obviously irritated by her nearly running into him. “Oi, lady, caution. You could get hurt..." Kit tilted his head as he watched her. "You're....wait, it was Kres-something, right? My partner for LIN 101?" He had already seen her but...memory wasn't his best quality. She smiles sheepishly at him, "ahh, sorry...." She looks at him again, "hmmm? Oh, yes. I'm Kressara. I take it you are Kit?" Of course she had seen him before in class after hearing the assignment, she hadn't really paid attention to what he looked like. Seeing him now, her mind started to recognize him. "Sorry. I was a bit distracted..." She sends a pointed look up wards at the brown haired doll, who was continuously giggling. The dragon boy nodded quickly. "Yes, I am Kit!" His eyes moved to the doll on the girl's head. "Before we start...what is that?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. Before Kressara can respond, Adorra jumps up, "Hi! I'm Adorra! I'm one of the dolls that mommy has created." Kressara sighs, for once growing a bit weary of her dolls' energetic attitude. "Hush, sweetie...Yes. This is Adorra. I am a witch known as the Doll-Maker. She is one of the many I have. She is also my most energetic one." The dragon boy stared intensely at the doll. How strange. He had never seen such a thing. "And she's like a normal person? I mean, does she have a normal life or she's just a moving doll?" In the meantime, he walked towards some beanbags laying on the ground and he threw himself on them. She follows after him, Adorra continuing to hum. "Well, that depends on how you describe normal. Yes, her and her sisters are like 'normal' life forms in most aspects. But they are still living dolls, so they are restricted from some things. Adorra here would have no problem travelling in town in her active state because she looks 'normal'. But if one of my other dolls, say....Lenali. She would get herself into trouble due to her appearance." Kit waved back and forth, finally laying on his side, his tail wrapped around a bean bag. "Mmm, I see," he hummed, still staring at the odd doll. He rolled over his belly and moved his attention towards his assignment partner. "Soooo, any idea on how we should make this assignment?" he asked, tilting his head. He hadn't thought much about it yet, so he didn't know how to start. The professor still hadn't taught them a lot and he didn't know anything about magic. "Well, there are a few fairy tales I found that have magic. We could do the stereotypical Cinderella-Pumpkin thing, but there is also the dress that appears on her in the story. There is also the spell used in many fairy tales about the witch who turned a prince into a frog, or the reverse were a princess kisses the frog and he becomes a prince. And the last one I found was the story of Pinocchio, where magic is used to turn him into a real boy." The dragon boy listened carefully. They all sounded pretty cool and original. "Mmm, I'd say they all seem nice but...wouldn't be that something like...high levell magic? At leas for the last one you said...The one about the pumpkin looks the easiest...though also that of the dress is appealing." He ruffled his hair, thinking about what they could do. However, that about turning into a frog was out of question. "Anyway, if you can make almost-living dolls, maybe you also know how one of these examples could be made?" he asked her, tilting his head. She gives a slight laugh, something that is rare when it does not have to do with her dolls, "I guess you're right...Hm...Well, with the turning the doll into a real person, I kind of have an idea. However, I don't know how to turn them into a completely real person. Let me show you what I mean, look at Adorra." Once he was watching the small doll, she took her off her shoulder and placed her on the floor, "Ready sweetie?" At a nod of affirmation, she gives a diamond shaped hand signal and says, "Strenuus." A poof of smoke swirls around Adorra and when it is gone, a cute girl about 5'3" stands where Adorra once was. She looks exactly like the doll form, except her skin looks real instead of porcelain.

Kressara smiles when she has finished, "See? As far as I know, there is no way to create a real human from a doll, but you can make a state of which they look and feel like one. It can be tricky, though, depending on the doll. Because they still keep their physical aspects as a 'human'." Kit's eyes widened a lot when the girl turned her doll into a human-looking being. His ears twitched because of the surprise. "Heck! This is freaking awesome!" he said out loud, probably being heard by the whole library. He hadn't witnessed many spells yet and that left him quite astonished. Leaning his chin on his hands, he stared for some seconds at Adorra, then back to her owner. "I'd say that is pretty stunning! Is there something like this in one of the tales you found?" Kressara shakes her head, "No. Pinocchio is said to turn into a real human, one that doesn't change back. I didn't find any other stories that had a doll being able to turn into a human for a certain period of time using magic. Although I came up with something that may work for that..." she looks at Adorra, "You ready?" At a nod of confirmation, she makes a complex symbol in the air, "Adducam Forth Vita!" A bright flash of light fills the room and Adorra glows for a few moments. Kressara starts to smile, thinking it worked, but just then the light turns dark and slams into her, flinging her back into the bookshelves around them forcefully. Kit looked at Kressara, ready for another exciting incantation but he understood something had gone wrong when the light sprood by the girl becomes dark and pushes her towards the shelves. He got up from the beanbags where he was lying and ran at her. "Hey hey! Are you okay?" he asked, with a worried tone, "What went wrong?" She groans, rubbing her head slightly, "Ouch..." Adorra runs over to her as well, back in her dormant state. She watches Kressara with a worried look. Kressara offers them both a half smile, "Yea, I'm ok. I guess that powerful of a spell is too much for me to perform at my current level, heh...I understand how it could, hypothetically, work. But I can't demonstrate it because it is too powerful. The magic didn't exactly like me trying to use it in that way..." Kit gives her a slightly concerned look, “Are you sure you’re ok?” He helps her to stand up and she brushes off her dress, “Ahh, yes I am fine now. Well, I mean, we can still use this spell for our assignment, we just can’t demonstrate it. Well, we can demonstrate the spell I showed you before and explain the difference in it...Yea, I think that will work.” She smiles brightly at him, happy they had finished the assignment without too much difficulty.
